The Wellington Family

Denise and Daryl Wellington, Husband & Wife and directors of Denise Wellington Funeral Services, were both born in Bude, went to school in Bude and have been involved with the Community of Bude and surrounding areas in many ways throughout their lives, and within this time have become well known and trusted members of the community.

The Wellington Family have a tradition of involvement within local clubs, groups, charities and various organisations, with Daryl’s Dad Lester being a founder member of the very first Surf Life Saving Club to be formed in the UK back in 1953 and his Mum Vera setting up the very first Nursing Care Home in Bude back in 1961. Denise now carries on this charitable work as a trustee on The Blanchminster Trust, a charity that helps education, people in need and the community in Bude, Stratton and Poughill and Talan’s Trust, a charity who aim to raise awareness of the signs and symptoms of childhood cancers.

With over 40 years collective experience in the funeral profession, during which time Denise has successfully gained her Diploma in Funeral Directing and ran many funeral services, Denise Wellington Funeral Services are able to offer our bereaved families a genuine knowledge and understanding at their time of need, alongside a natural desire to provide a caring, compassionate and empathic service.

We have a simple philosophy, to offer immediate care and support to those who have suffered the loss of a loved one and to be there for them, their family and their friends during their time of bereavement, however long that time may be over the days, weeks, months and years ahead

Denise and Daryl provide a natural desire to be there for others when needed, and now have the valued support of their eldest son Harry, who has been part of the family business for a number of years. Harry will be the Funeral Director based in Launceston, after we recently merged our business with G F Gubbins Funeral Directors, who have a long-standing reputation in the Launceston area. With Garfield’s blessing and our very similar family values, Harry will carry our philosophy on of caring for bereaved families in this area.

We are thrilled that our family is now growing and we love spending time with Harry and his Wife Beccy along with their gorgeous 14 month old son Freddy, and Jack our youngest son who is married to Holly and has a beautiful 5 month old daughter Freya.

As a Cornish family with links to Devon we are proud to run our funeral services business in and around the Bude area and now merging our business with G F Gubbins Funeral Directors of Launceston we feel very honoured that our family business is growing and many families are putting their trust in us to care for their loved ones.

If you are thinking about a funeral plan, we are happy to discuss any aspect of a funeral or your loved ones funeral, at our premises in Bude or Launceston or your welcome to simply pop in for an informal chat over a cup of tea or coffee.

As funeral directors, we see it as our privilege and an honour, to be entrusted, and involved with families at such a difficult time, knowing we can provide them with the appropriate guidance and advice whilst providing a commitment to maintaining the highest of professional standards on their behalf.
