What is a Direct Cremation?
Typically, a Direct Cremation is where there are no mourners in attendance at the time of the Cremation and there is no service. Your loved one will be conveyed into our care, then driven to the crematorium in the same respectful and dignified manner as those who opt for a full, traditional service. The ashes are then returned to our premises for you to collect at your convenience. Or you may wish to collect them from the crematorium yourself.
Is Direct Cremation a good idea?
In many cases, a Direct Cremation can be a good option, but you need to think carefully about whether the option of not holding a funeral service is right for the bereaved family and close friends. A funeral service whether religious or not is an important part of the grieving process and plays a role in accepting the death of a loved one.
Can you attend a Direct Cremation?
Our simple cremation allows for a small number of mourners to attend the crematorium for a 10 minute committal service at 9:00am, with two pieces of chosen music. This will incur an additional charge compared to the unattended direct cremation, where there are no mourners in attendance. We can discuss this with you further should this be your preferred option.
How much does a Direct Cremation cost?
Our Unattended Direct Cremation option is £1,345.
Our simple cremation options is £2,295.
Should you wish to use an alternative Crematorium, there may be an additional cost, depending on their direct cremation fees.
We can offer clear advice on the various options and costs available to you in advance.
