Musgrove Willow Coffins

These willow coffins are sustainable, environmentally friendly and beautifully handcrafted using the skills passed down through four generations on a family farm in Somerset. Sorted and graded by hand, enabling them to maintain exceptionally high standards of quality and service. Also referred to as a wicker coffin, these naturally woven coffins are fully approved by the FFMA. They have passed rigorous testing for strength and environmental impact, and are appropriate for traditional burial, cremations, as well as woodland and green burial sites.

Each willow coffin is made by one of Musgrove Willows highly skilled weavers. The willow is harvested using traditional methods that have little impact on the surrounding natural environment. They are made to be personal and meaningful and are available in a wide range of colours in various combinations, including block colours. (Surcharge – £325.00)

‘Help To Weave’

“The Help to Weave service is an opportunity for loved ones to come together and jointly contribute to honouring the life of someone they’ve lost. Many find the process incredibly therapeutic and a way to help manage their grief.

You will be gently guided through the process and feel connected to the act of making a beautiful, natural woven coffin. Loved ones can also adorn a coffin with personal items and take the opportunity to create handmade willow keepsakes.

You will also receive a timelapse video of the entire weaving process once the coffin is finished. Those who are unable to attend can instead view a livestream of the weaving, where they can chat with the weaver and ask any questions they might have.

Participating in the weaving process can be hugely cathartic, and we want to ensure those who want this experience don’t miss out. If you are interested in participating in Help to Weave, please let your Funeral Director know as soon as you can – we’ll do the rest”.

Athelney

The Athelney is a wicker basket coffin woven with the highest quality willow.
It is a highly customisable coffin, woven in a simple classic style and weave.
The main body of the Athelney can be woven in buff, white, or antique willow.
The Athelney can also be customised to incorporate coloured bands and handles.
These are available in a range of hand-dyed colours.
This style is available in both a ‘Traditional’ and ‘Curved End’ shape.

Avalon

The Avalon is a white woven coffin handmade with the highest quality white willow. White willow is produced through traditional processes. No dye is used. This is a natural product, so the colour is not ‘paper white’.

This woven coffin can be customised by incorporating other natural willow finishes into the design. Choose from antique buff, barked, buff or steamed willow. Alternatively, select a colour or two from our extensive range of hand dyed willow colours.

This style is available in both ‘Traditional’ and ‘Curved End’ shape.

Blackdown

The Blackdown is a wicker basket coffin woven with the highest quality buff and steamed willow.

The main body of the Blackdown is woven with buff willow. Dark brown steamed willow is used for the banding and the plait border on the lid edge. The plait, handles and/or bands can be woven in buff, steamed, antique buff or white willow. Hand dyed coloured willow can also be incorporated into a design.

Black Down is a ‘Traditional’ shape.

Mendip

The Mendip is a wicker basket coffin woven with the highest quality buff and steamed willow.

The main body of the Mendip is woven with buff willow. Dark brown steamed willow is used for the banding and the plait border on the lid edge. The plait, handles and/or bands can be woven in buff, steamed, antique buff or white willow. Hand dyed coloured willow can also be incorporated into a design.

Mendip is a ‘Curved End’ shape.

Block Colour

The Block Colour wicker coffin is woven from the highest quality buff and hand dyed willow. It is available in 16 different colours; red, orange, yellow, dark green, light green, dark blue, light blue, lilac, purple, light pink, fuchsia pink, dark grey, light grey, burgundy, black and turquoise.

Alternatively, the following natural finishes can be incorporated into the design; antique buff, barked, steamed and white willow.

This style is available in both ‘Traditional’ and ‘Curved End’ shape.

Full Colour

The Full Colour coffin is woven entirely from the highest quality hand dyed willow. It is available in 16 different colours; red, orange, yellow, dark green, light green, dark blue, light blue, lilac, purple, light pink, fuchsia pink, dark grey, light grey, burgundy, black and turquoise.

This coffin can also be woven entirely with natural barked willow.

This style is available in both ‘Traditional’ and ‘Curved End’ shape.

Glastonbury

The Glastonbury coffin is woven entirely from our highest quality steamed willow. This striking coffin is designed to give an entirely natural alternative to mahogany wood.

These coffins can be customised to incorporate other natural willow finishes and/or hand dyed coloured willow into the design.

Glastonbury is a ‘Traditional’ shape.

Hay Moor

The Hay Moor coffin is woven entirely from our highest quality steamed willow. This striking coffin is designed to give an entirely natural alternative to mahogany wood.

These coffins can be customised to incorporate other natural willow finishes and/or hand dyed coloured willow into the design.

Hay Moor is a ‘Curved End’ shape.

Sedgemoor

The Sedgemoor is woven from the highest quality buff willow.

These can be customised to incorporate other natural willow finishes into the design. Choose from antique buff, barked, steamed, white and/or hand dyed coloured willow.

Sedgemoor is a ‘Traditional’ shape.

South Lake

The South Lake is woven from the highest quality buff willow.

These can be customised to incorporate other natural willow finishes into the design. Choose from antique buff, barked, steamed, white and/or hand dyed coloured willow.

South Lake is a ‘Curved End’ shape.

Polden

The Polden is woven from the highest quality buff and white willow. The main body of the Polden is woven with buff willow. White willow is used for the banding and the plait border on the lid edge.

West Moor

The West Moor wicker coffin is woven from the highest quality antique buff willow. It can be customised so that the design incorporates other natural willow finishes. Choose from; barked, buff, steamed, white and/or hand dyed coloured willow.

This style is available in both ‘Traditional’ and ‘Curved End’ shape.
