Following Garfield’s decision to retire, we are extremely honoured that he has offered his Families long-standing business to us, Denise Wellington Funeral Services. G F Gubbin Funeral Directors began in 1963 when Garfield’s late Father Gordon started the family business, and together they have looked after bereaved families within the Launceston area and beyond with genuine care and support during all those 60 years. They leave behind a meaningful, and long-lasting legacy for the many families they have looked after, and Denise Wellington Funeral Services will look to carry on that tradition.

“After 60 years in the business (I started very young!), it is with a heavy heart that I have decided it is time to hang up my tails and embark on a fresh adventure. I want to express my thanks to all the wonderful people I have met along the way. Your support and friendship have been invaluable and have sustained me throughout. It has truly been a privilege to have been able to help at a time of great need and I will miss it forever. Having Denise, Daryl, and Harry to take up the baton, will mean that you will receive an even better service in the future. Just like myself, they are committed to caring for the people they come into contact with, and their guidance and advice will be essential for everyone. I would like to wish them every success in their new venture”.

As Garfield moves into a very well-deserved retirement, we wholeheartedly wish him all the very best for the future.

G F Gubbin Funeral Directors will operate as part of Denise Wellington Funeral Services, whist keeping the G F Gubbin name to ensure there is continuity to the service provided for our bereaved families both now and in the future.

No – the business will continue to run from Penlaurel, Langdon, Launceston, PL15 8NL.

Who will be running the business?
Denise & Daryl Wellington’s eldest Son Harry will be stepping into Garfield’s shoes and taking on the role of Funeral Director. Harry has made the decision to step back into the funeral profession to grow the family business, whilst providing the same level of care, support, trust, and professionalism that we pride ourselves on.

Denise Wellington Funeral Services also use Golden Charter Funeral Plans so this will provide a seamless transition of any current plans G F Gubbin Funeral Directors may hold, and we will be able to honour these plans on your behalf. We can normally honour other regulated funeral plan providers (as long as the plan provider agrees to transfer the existing plan to us), should you wish to use our services.
